Robert Hampson is the organizer of the Luther Tour. He is a vicar in South Woodford in East London and is married to Florence. Born in 1958 in Upminster, Essex, he attended local schools before studying Economics and Government at the London School of Economics, where he graduated in 1980. He trained to be a priest in the Church of England at Ridley College, Cambridge and was ordained in 1997. To relax he rides horses and binds books. His passion is for the Bible. He always has his Greek Testament in his pocket and leads a Greek New Testament Bible Study for local clergy. He frequently visits Germany and Israel where he has many friends.
Robert has had a long attachment with Heythrop College, a Catholic College in the University of London, where he studied Bible Studies, the Philosophy of Religion and Liturgy and at present tutors for an external diploma in New Testament. He has taught Philosophy at the Thurrock Adult Education Centre, Grays, Essex, and was visiting tutor in Kierkegaard studies at Heythrop until last year. The Luther Tour has developed out of the old boy and girl network at Heythrop College.
